can we just talk about how sherlock looks here?
so hurt, and so sad, like he dreads waiting more than anything, like he doesn’t know when he’s going to see john again, like he feels guilty, like he wants nothing more than to run to john and tell him that he’s absolutely fine, but he’s got to keep his secret, he’s got to attend his own funeral, and he doesn’t know if he’s ever going to see this man, his other half again, because it won’t be safe for either of them, and he’s sad, he’s so sad, but he’s accepted that it was better.
it was better to have known john, and to have loved him, and to have grown with him, and to have this acute hurt now than to have never known him at all and just gone through life as a sociopath, not caring about anyone, because john has opened up this whole world of happiness for sherlock, a happiness that was his downfall, and a happiness that he now has to let go of if he wants to survive.
they’ve changed each other. so much. and now they have to be apart, and i really, really want to see how they fare on their own.
